Design
Awards
Awards honoring the best designs of nominated yachts, 24 meters and up (78ft+),
which were completed from April of the previous calendar year to April of the current year.
Prior to 2008, nominations were from the previous calender year.
Starting 2008, categories are now: Best Power
24m-40m, Best Power 40m-65m, Best Power 65m+, Best Sail 24m-40m,
Best Sail 40m+ and Best Interior.
The Design Awards Gala is sponsored by The Yacht Report.
Leadership
Award
Coinciding with the Design Awards is the Leadership Award sponsored
and presented by the Robb Report. It honors an individual or
company whose distinctive work and commitment to the industry has
contributed to the growth of the superyacht community
worldwide.
Additional
Awards
Starting in 2008, there are two additional awards for ISS Person or Business of the Year
and ISS Excellence in Innovation.
Design Awards Voting Process
This year, finalists for the Design Awards were selected from a complete listing of all eligible vessels, 24 meters (78ft+) and up, which were completed from May 2008 to April, 2009. Each Member of the ISS selects five finalists that they deem to be the "Best Designs" from each of the five categories. The "Best Design" categories are: Best Power 24m-40m, Best Power 40m-65m, Best Power 65+, Best Sail 24m - 40m, Best Sail 40+, and Best Interior. The nominations are tallied and the top five in each category are designated the finalists. Then, all finalists are asked to submit a design award entry package which are reviewed by the Design Awards Distinguished Panel of Judges. Winners are announced at the Gala.
