ISS International Yacht Design Nominations Underway
Celebrating 20 Years of Peer Review and Recognition
28 May 2010, Fort Lauderdale, FL: During 2010, the International Superyacht Society (ISS) is celebrating the 20th Anniversary of its International Awards for Design & Leadership, the first awards program in the large yacht industry and one that continues to adopt a wholly unbiased nomination and selection format.
The ISS awards honour the previous year’s greatest achievements in design, engineering, and leadership, as determined by some of the superyacht industry’s most accomplished professionals. In fact, all nominations and final judgment are made by fellow members of ISS.
While a number of other awards programs have emerged within the industry over the years, ISS has never wavered from its pure focus on peer review and selection. Because of this, the ISS’s International Awards for Design & Leadership remains the longest-running recognition program of its kind.
Yacht nominations are currently being received. To register an eligible yacht (those completed between 1 January 2009 and 30 April 2010), go to www.superyachtsociety.com/signup. Simple instructions follow: click on “Register” and enter name, email, company, the nominated vessel’s name, length overall (LOA) and builders name. Once entered, the nominator will receive detailed instructions via email on how to access the 2010 nominee site to upload all yacht details. For those registering multiple vessels, uploading is available with the same User ID and password initially emailed.
Owners and industry alike can prepare to enjoy a truly festive Gala on 28 October 2010 as the large yacht business celebrates ISS’s milestone. The Gala Committee (comprised of some of the most notable names in the trade) has plans well underway. Embracing the theme, Hollywood Goes Yachting, the committee aims for a fitting tribute to celebrate the splendour and the fun of yachting.
Festivities will again be at the Marriott Harbor Beach Resort in Fort Lauderdale. Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be held during the evening in the glow of the sunset on the Ocean View Terrace. The awards presentation follows in the new adjacent ballroom and the evening concludes with the Cigar Bar—a great hit year after year, featuring dessert and aperitifs.
In addition to yacht recognition, ISS will also present its highly anticipated awards that celebrate personal excellence and innovation as it presents the Leadership Award, Distinguished Crew Award and Awards of Distinction during the evening.
Yacht Nominations Must Be Received by 4 June 2010
